- Does editing reduce the image quality or resolution?
- The adjustments are applied to the image at its original pixel dimensions, so nothing is scaled down. PNG downloads are lossless; JPG downloads are re-encoded at high quality, which is usually indistinguishable but technically lossy.
- What do the four sliders actually change?
- Brightness scales how light every pixel is, contrast increases or decreases the difference between dark and light areas, and saturation controls color intensity, where 0% is grayscale. Hue rotation shifts all colors around the color wheel by the chosen angle, which is useful for creative color effects.
- How do I fix a photo that is too dark?
- Raise brightness in small steps until the subject is clearly visible, then add a little contrast to restore depth, since brightening alone tends to make an image look washed out. If colors appear faded after the correction, a small saturation boost of 5 to 15% usually brings them back. Watch the lightest areas as you go — detail pushed to pure white cannot be recovered.
- Can I make an image black and white with this tool?
- Yes — drag the saturation slider down to 0% and every color drops out, leaving a grayscale image. You can then use brightness and contrast to tune the black and white result, which often benefits from more contrast than the color original. Download as PNG to keep the conversion lossless.

The processing happens entirely in your browser: the image is drawn onto a canvas element and the adjustments are applied through the browser’s built-in filter pipeline on your own hardware. Each slider does one clear thing. Brightness lightens or darkens every pixel uniformly. Contrast expands or compresses the distance between shadows and highlights — more contrast adds punch, less flattens the image toward gray.
