No word repeats until every word in the current deck has been used.

How it works

  1. Pick a difficulty (Easy, Medium, or Hard) and choose a category such as Animals, Movies, or Idioms.
  2. Press Next word to draw a word from the deck, then start sketching while the optional 60 or 90 second timer counts down.
  3. Tap +1 for the team that guessed correctly and draw again — no word repeats until the whole deck has been used.

Frequently asked questions

How many Pictionary words does the generator include?
The generator ships with around 1,200 prompts split across 15 separate decks — three difficulty levels times five categories, with roughly 80 words in each deck. Every deck was written for drawability, so even the hard idioms and movie titles can be acted out on paper with a bit of creativity.
Will the same word come up twice in one game?
No. Each difficulty and category combination keeps its own shuffled deck, and a drawn word is removed until the deck runs out. When every word has been used you will see a short reshuffle notice, and the deck starts over in a new random order.
Does the tool work offline or send data anywhere?
All words are embedded in the page and every draw happens locally in your browser, so nothing is sent to a server. Once the page has loaded you can keep playing without an internet connection, which is handy for cabins, road trips, and classrooms with spotty Wi-Fi.
Which difficulty level should I pick?
Easy uses short, concrete words like animals and household objects, which suits kids from about age six. Medium adds two-word actions and popular films for mixed family groups. Hard leans on idioms, obscure animals, and classic movies, and works best for adults or experienced players.
How do the timer and team scoring work?
Turn on the round timer and choose 60 or 90 seconds; the countdown restarts each time you draw a word and plays a short beep through your speaker when time runs out. Below the card, each team has a running score with a +1 button, so you can track the whole game on one screen.

About this tool

This Pictionary word generator replaces the card deck from the boxed game with an endless, well-organized supply of prompts. Choose one of three difficulty levels and one of five categories — Animals, Objects, Actions, Movies, or Idioms — and the tool deals a random word onto a large card that everyone at the table can read from a phone held up by the artist’s teammate. A Next word button advances the round, an optional 60 or 90 second countdown keeps turns moving, and two score counters track the match.

Everything runs client-side. The full word bank — about 80 entries for each of the 15 difficulty and category combinations — is embedded in the page, and draws are made from a locally shuffled deck. Because a used word leaves the deck until it is exhausted, you will never hear “we just had that one” halfway through a game. When a deck does run dry, the tool tells you it has reshuffled so nobody is surprised by a repeat. No account, no upload, and no network requests after the page loads.

The category split matters more than it looks. Animals and Objects are classic quick-draw material for younger players. Actions force players to draw scenes rather than things, which changes the skill involved. Movies reward shared pop-culture knowledge, and Idioms — the hardest deck — turn abstract phrases like “spill the beans” into genuinely funny sketches. Mixing categories between rounds keeps a long game night fresh.

A few practical tips: agree before starting whether spoken letters and gestures are banned, keep the timer at 60 seconds for large groups so turns rotate quickly, and let the drawing team see the word together so they can rotate the artist each round. For a quick party format, play first team to ten points with Hard idioms worth two.
