- Does converting JPG to PNG lose quality?
- No quality is lost — PNG is lossless, so every pixel of the JPG is preserved exactly. Conversion can’t restore detail the original JPG compression already discarded, though, and the PNG file will be considerably larger.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?

- Will compressing reduce image quality?
- Compression removes data your eyes barely notice. At the default settings the difference is invisible in normal viewing. You can adjust the quality level under Options if you need finer control.

About this tool
Converting JPG to PNG is about preventing further loss, not recovering it. JPG degrades a little every time an image is edited and re-saved, so moving a photo into a lossless container before repeated editing stops compression artifacts from stacking up. PNG is also simply required by some upload forms, design tools and print workflows. Expect a larger file — that is the cost of lossless storage — and remember the conversion preserves the image exactly as it currently looks.
Conversion happens entirely in your browser: each JPG file is decoded locally and re-encoded as PNG using the browser’s own image engine, so nothing is uploaded and the result is ready the moment you drop the file.
