8 players — bracket of 8, 3 rounds. Click a name to advance them.
Runs entirely in your browser — names and results never leave your device.
How it works
- Type or paste one participant name per line — anywhere from 4 to 32 names.
- Turn on Shuffle seeds if you want random matchups instead of the order you typed.
- Click the winner of each match to advance them until a champion is crowned, then use Copy bracket to share the result as text.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the bracket generator handle an odd number of players?
- The bracket is padded to the next power of two (4, 8, 16 or 32) with byes. A player matched against a bye advances to the next round automatically. Byes are spread across the bracket so no two byes ever meet, which means every first-round match involves at least one real participant.
- Can I randomize the matchups?
- Yes. The Shuffle seeds toggle assigns every participant a random position in the bracket, so matchups no longer follow the order you typed. Turning the toggle off restores the original order. Each time you switch it on, a fresh random draw is made.
- Are my participant names uploaded anywhere?
- No. The entire bracket — names, seeding, and your winner picks — exists only in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, so you can use real names for office or classroom tournaments without any privacy concern.
- What can I use a single-elimination bracket for?
- Anything with head-to-head matchups: video game or table tennis tournaments, fantasy sports playoffs, office competitions, classroom debates, or fun votes like ranking movies and snacks. Because winners are picked with a click, it also works well for live events projected on a screen.
- Can I change a pick after I have made it?
- Yes. Click the other participant in the same match and the bracket updates instantly. Any later-round picks that depended on the previous winner are cleared automatically, so the bracket always stays consistent. Reset picks clears every result while keeping your names and seeding.
About this tool
This tournament bracket generator builds a single-elimination bracket from a simple list of names. Paste between 4 and 32 participants, one per line, and the bracket appears immediately, organized into rounds from the opening matches through quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final. If your player count is not a power of two, the tool pads the field with byes and distributes them so that no first-round match is empty — players drawn against a bye simply advance.
Everything runs client-side in your browser. The participant list, the seeding draw, and every winner you pick are held in memory on your device and never transmitted anywhere, so brackets with coworkers’ or students’ real names stay private. Because there is no server round-trip, the bracket also updates the instant you click: choose a winner and they move into the next round, change your mind and the downstream results adjust automatically.
Typical uses include esports and board game nights, ping pong or foosball ladders at the office, classroom review competitions, and bracket-style votes where a group eliminates options one matchup at a time. The shuffle option is handy when you want a fair random draw instead of the order names were entered — flip it on right before the event so nobody can predict the matchups.
A few practical tips: keep names short so they stay readable on phones, where the bracket scrolls sideways while the rest of the page stays put. When the champion is decided, the Copy bracket button exports every round as plain text, ready to paste into a group chat, email, or spreadsheet as a permanent record of the tournament.
